Naim Kassem unveiled as Hezbollah's new leader | Middle East conflict
Hezbollah has announced that Naim Kassem will be the party's new leader.
The decision by the Lebanese armed group follows Israel's assassination of long-time leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut on 27 September.
Nasrallah's assumed successor, Hashem Safieddine, was killed in Israeli strikes a week later.
Responding to Kassem's appointment, the Israeli goverment posted on X: "His tenure in this position may be the shortest in the history of this terrorist organisation if he follows in the footsteps of his predecessors Hassan Nasrallah and Hashem Safieddine."
