Switching Game Engines can be difficult. I moved to Godot Engine from the Unity Game Engine over the last couple of months for my next indie game dev project. With the recent changes with Unity, it was a great opportunity to see what other most popular game engines have to offer (Unreal Engine 5, GameMaker, Godot, etc).

In this video, I discuss my experience moving to Godot, learning how to make a game in Godot 4, such as difficulties with learning the Godot 4 API, Godot C# vs GDScript, my process moving from Unity, and how my new project is coming along.

My recent small project made in Godot 4.3. I was really looking for opportunity to try mterrain plugin so when free Quixel assets were released it felt like a perfect moment. Whole scene is not greatly optimized but runs at about 60-80 fps in outdoor parts at 1080p with my RX6800S.

I think the end result is decent but there are a lot of places to improve and optimize. Due to my limited time I decided to stop the project here.
