If you want to start tracking your sports and health using modern technology and get a good deal at the same time, then this video is for you. Black Friday is probably going to give you some great deals. Even if you're watching this video after that, there will still be many good deals. However, no matter the price, it is important to choose a device that is reliable and accurate. In this video I will use actual data and testing to show you my top recommendations, and which devices I would pick up myself. We will focus on heart rate, GPS, sleep and health tracking, which will give you a full picture and allow you to select the best device possible, at the best possible price. Be aware that I’ve rejected most companies that offered very lucrative affiliate links because I didn’t think their products were good enough. However, there were three that I did accept. I will mention them in this video, in addition to many other devices, because I believe all these products are actually good and I use them myself daily. I wanted to be transparent. The good thing is that you will also get an extra discount if you use those links. I’ve split this video into several parts that cover the topics: heart rate, GPS, sleep, health, all-round top performers, and honorable mentions, and I give recommendations for each. Let’s start with heart rate tracking, specifically heart rate tracking during sports. This is very hard for many smartwatches, because they have to measure a very weak signal. Basically a smartwatch or smartband tries to measure changes in blood flow using a flashing green light shining on your wrist. And it is doing that while you are moving a lot. This creates a ton of noise in the signal, which means it is looking for a tiny blood flow signal in a sea of noise. Still, some devices manage to do this quite well. So, let’s check out the data on some of my top picks. By the way, I’ve turned on channel memberships in case you want to support the channel, but more on that later.

The next health tracking device I use every day is the only device I own that actively improves my sleep quality, the Eight Sleep Pod 4 Ultra. This is a cover you put around your mattress that actively cools and heats each side of the bed independently. This has been a life-saver in summer to stay cool, and great in winter to be able to open the window and still stay warm. It also raises the head of the bed ever so slightly if I start to snore, to make sure I stop, and when I do, it lowers again. In addition, it did great in my testing in terms of health and sleep tracking, and it does this all without you wearing anything.

Nobody wants blurry photos or pictures that are too dark. In this video I'll show you how my camera is set up for low light and high iso situations for shooting in gyms (track, soccer, gymnastics, volleyball etc). Freeze fast moving action with a high shutter speed and keep the aperture or f-stop as low as possible. I also go over the white balance and Auto Focus Tracking mode that I use. At the end of the video I show a few sample action shots that I took at the last NCAA Division 1 game and some live footage through my Gopro hero 4 silver edition.

TIP: My ISO is high because the higher end Professional cameras can handle it better. If you have a consumer grade camera I would suggest using iso 2000 or less and using fixed focal length lens like a 1.4 that way you can keep your shutter speed around 1/640 or 1/800 of a second. You might get a few more photos out of focus but that is a good alternative and cheaper.

Basic settings I use:
Shutter speed 1/1000
Aperture: F2.8
ISO: 4000
