Myles Smith - Stargazing. An exclusive performance for Vevo DSCVR, the channel for the best in new music.

Thanks to this new generation of songwriters, folk-pop is having a big revival. Myles Smith figures to be a key part of the story. The UK singer’s breakout track “Stargazing” has been spinning alongside the Noah Kahans, Zach Bryans, and Kacey Musgraves of the world since it dropped in May. And why not? It’s got all the right ingredients: a stomp-clap foundation, anthemic “oohs,” and idealistic romance. No surprise this Coldplay and Labyrinth fan spent formative years playing pubs around Luton. It’s quite easy to picture him leading a bar crowd with his guitar if you’ve waded through his debut EP, ‘You Promised a Lifetime.’ Check the buoyant “My Home” and “Solo” if you want a stronger grasp on his Mumford-tinged lane. That project was, in part, the result of friends encouraging the sociology major to care less about making the most of his university degree and more about making music. When he doubled down on posting covers online, the response only multiplied. He once recalled Jared Leto posting one of his covers while he was in a Budapest bath house. When we chatted with him on his DSCVR shoot day, he wisely insisted that his craft isn’t tied to any specific genre. Instead, “it’s tied to a feeling,” he explained. “Group therapy, some of my fans call it.” Myles has and will spend a lot of 2024 on his Slightly Less Lonely Global Tour. Tons of the shows have already sold out. The world is really responding to that feeling, as he described it, and we were only happy to help capture it.

Lucky Daye - Fade Away (Studio Performance)

Nothing's gonna stop Lucky Daye - he’s been smashing through walls his whole life. David Debrandon Brown grew up in a New Orleans home that banned secular music, but on the sly, he still managed to have fun cranking up The Gap Band. When Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city and his family moved to Texas, Lucky began dreaming of a music career, and got some positive feedback during a stint in ATL. A road trip to Los Angeles connected the proud Libra with producer D Mile, and in an instance of cosmic luck, the duo refined their take on groove music and developed a singular plan: “Let’s get funky, let’s get musical and let’s get unorthodox lyrically.” The result? Four Grammy noms for ‘Painted.’ Not bad for a debut album, which includes “Call,” a samba-infused plea for romantic communication, and “Fade Away,” which is part of ‘The Photograph’ soundtrack. The Beaches - Edge of the Earth. An exclusive performance for Vevo.

Ever watch a billowing cloud morph from a face to a piece of popcorn to an elephant? That’s what it’s like listening to The Beaches, the guitar-driven indie rock crew who hail from Toronto but sound like they could’ve elbowed The Strokes backstage at a mid-aughts Webster Hall show or shared a Troubadour bill with The GoGo’s in 1980. The Miller sisters comprise half the band - Jordan on lead vocals and bass, Kylie on guitar. As starry-eyed teens, the sibs had a group with drummer Eliza Enman-McDaniel. When guitarist Leandra Earl joined in 2013, they officially dubbed themselves The Beaches. In 2017, indie rock fans welcomed the punchy verve of debut album ‘Late Show,’ which made it clear that these Canadians liked to stomp it up. Last year’s ‘Blame My Ex’ keeps all the angular guitar riffs and synth candy in place, but adds pop craft. The quasi title track “Blame Brett” pulls off the rare feat of being both a lovable TikTok soundbite and a full-fledged alt radio hit. If you’re in the crowd at any of The Beaches two-dozen-plus shows this spring in ‘24, you might catch Jordan crooning like Robert Smith in their patented “Boys Don’t Cry” cover. “Edge of the Earth” is a setlist staple, too. Easy to see why.

Todas le pertenecían a la estrella naciente colombiana, Ela Taubert, quien fluyó a través del escenario tan fácil como las palomillas vuelan en el cielo. La criatura es su símbolo, su emoji favorito; la representación de la evolución. No empece a sus humildes comienzos como letrista juvenil, Ela irrumpió en la música latina con una fuerza indomable. Su primer EP, ‘¿Cómo Pasó’, alcanzó el #12 en la lista Billboard Latin Pop Airplay y le ganó el espacio en una de las carteleras más codiciadas de Bogotá: ser telonera del espectáculo de KAROL G, Mañana Será Bonito. A flurry of butterflies visited our DSCVR stage in Brooklyn, NY. They all belonged to Colombian rising star Ela Taubert, who moved through her performance as flawlessly as the winged creatures fly. It’s her symbol, her favorite emoji – a sign of transformation and evolution. Belying her humble beginnings as a teenage songwriter, Ela broke onto the scene with bombast. Her first EP, ‘¿Cómo Pasó?,’ reached #12 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay chart and netted her the coveted opening slot on the Bogotá stop of KAROL G’s Mañana Será Bonito stadium tour. Ela’s connection with her fans is intimate. She’s created a refuge, a safe space where her fans can process their emotions and shed their skin without judgment. “I’m focused on being able to share from the most honest part of my heart all the stories I’ve experienced and been inspired by,” she told Remezcla earlier this year. Influenced by pop stars like Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift, the singer’s gut-wrenching lyrics portray the ins and outs of teenage life: falling in love, heartbreak, and most importantly empowerment in the face of adversity. Accolades have kept coming. The biggest one being her nomination for Best New Artist at the 2024 Latin GRAMMYs.
