In the modern world, the discussion surrounding social justice has become increasingly prevalent and may, at times, seem inescapable. While these conversations have succeeded in spreading awareness about the issues faced by marginalized groups such as women and the LGBT+ community, this may not be having the desired effect. In this talk Neila shares how the approach social justice activists are currently using could be changed to foster acceptance rather than strengthen existing intolerances. Neila Choomchuay is a 17 year old girl who was born and raised in Thailand. She has a passion for learning and seeks to understand people and culture. As a member of multiple marginalized communities, she was inspired to explore modern day social activism and its impact on tolerance. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

There have been many changes in our society; women’s right to vote, the abolition of slavery the legislation of same-sex marriage are a few examples in much of the world. But these changes take lifetimes to happen. Zohra Moosa explains how all of us can become an activist; that people working together really can change the world. Zohra Moosa is a feminist activist and currently the Executive Director of Mama Cash, the first international women's fund in the world. Based in Amsterdam and operating globally, the smallish but bold fund supports social justice and human rights groups, organizations, networks and movements led by women, girls, and trans and intersex people by providing financial grants and other non-financial resources. The fund was started 35 years ago as a solidarity fund by a group of women in Amsterdam, and continues today to collect resources from where it can to channel back to courageous feminist activists all around the world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

A wide range of Americans contributed to the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. Students and young people were prominent groups of activists within the movement. Today, we'll learn about the Little Rock Nine, the Greensboro Four, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, and the Freedom Riders. These groups undertook protests and worked to integrate schools and public accommodations by riding segregated buses, demanding service at lunch counters, and even by simply attending school.

What Are People Wearing in NYC? Location: Soho

Introducing summer street styles such as jorts (denim shorts), baggy, cropped T-shirts, and loafer with jeans. While casual attire with an emphasis on comfort is the norm, layering accessories is popular among women. Even a simple style can be upgraded with the right accessories. In terms of footwear trends, thick-soled and voluminous shoes such as loafers, Timberlands, and Crocs are often seen.

Ukrainie's President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Russia's war on his country will end "faster" than it otherwise would have done with Donald Trump's return to the White House.

Mr Zelensky didn't say if the US president-elect had made any demands about talks with Russia, but told a Ukrainian radio station that Trump's promise to the US public that he will end the war "is very important for them, not only for the sake of Ukraine."

Meanwhile, Ukraine has accused Germany of trying to appease Russia after Chancellor Olaf Scholz held a phone call with Vladimir Putin for the first time in two years.

It appears that North Korean troops will enter combat against Ukraine in the coming days, says US defence secretary Lloyd Austin.

The US will allow Ukraine to use the missiles to hold onto the small chunk of Russian territory it occupies in Kursk, reportingly making the decision after the Kremlin allowed North Korean troops to fight there.

There is evidence that up to 10,000 soldiers have travelled from North Korea to the Russian-held part of Kursk and will oversee combat operations.

Three men have been charged by the US Justice Department over an alleged plot by Iran to murder Donald Trump and other American citizens.

The US government says the plot was thwarted by the FBI. One of the accused men hasn't been arrested and is believed to be in Iran.

Prosecutors say the plan dates back to September 2024, before the Presidential election. They allege that an unnamed official in Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guards planned to carry out surveillance and kill Mr Trump.

Investigators learned of the plot while interviewing Farhad Shakeri, an Afghan national identified by officials as an Iranian government agent, who was deported from the US after being imprisoned on robbery charges.

He told investigators that a Revolutionary Guard contact in Iran instructed him to carry out surveillance and ultimately to assassinate Mr Trump, according to the criminal complaint.

Two other men who the authorities say were recruited to participate in other assassinations, including a prominent Iranian-American journalist, have been arrested.

Donald Trump has a history of animosity towards Iran and the allegations raise questions about how the allegations may influence his policy towards the country in his new Presidency.

Jane Hill presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Sarah Smith and James Landale.
