Judd Apatow casts his former real-life roommate Adam Sandler as George Simmons, a comic superstar who learns in the movie's opening scene that he suffers from a rare blood disorder that will likely kill him within a year. This news gives him the impulse to go back out and work on his standup, something he hasn't done in years thanks to the massive success of his movie career. At a club, he meets struggling standup Ira Wright (Seth Rogen), takes a shine to him, and hires the young man both to write jokes and to be his personal assistant. This is a quick overview of some of the art processes we used to create the visual style for a 3D cell shaded 80's anime rogue like drafting game. Some things we'll cover.

Evil Villain Games currently does a variety of work for hire contracts while they work on their original titles. Currently they are hard at work on Skull Scavenger.

Final Fantasy tactics is getting a remake and I thought I’d have a go at trying to recreate the game in the Godot game engine. By far the most difficult part so was recreating the movement. In final fantasy tactics the characters move in a way where they don’t turn until they’re aligned with their destination. Called Manhattan distance. This movement is trivial to create in 2d but in 3d it posed a bit more of a challenge.

What I eventually realized was that it was much faster and more efficient to exclude diagonal points from the initial calculations to begin with. My next step was to provide a slight movement cost reduction to either the x or z axis. Which allowed for the traditional Manhattan path finding appearance. Now I only have to recreate a robust Job system, combat, turn management and an Enemy AI.
