Pozer is surfing the crest of UK rap’s new wave by blending grime, drill, and Jersey club influences into a distinct sound that feels familiar, innovative and fierce. A relatively recent foray into the music world explains the rap rookie’s fresh perspective; he’s one of numerous artists who found their calling during the pandemic, turning the languid days of that disastrous era into an opportunity to focus on passions. For Pozer, however, the motivation cut deeper than most. “I wanted to change my living situation,“ he expressed to us. So the Chief Keef acolyte turned on the burners, and cooked up “Kitchen Stove.” Over a squeaky mattress sample, Poz coolly puts self-progress atop the to-do list. “I done it with gang/And I done it alone.” The debut wasn’t a hit, it was a home run. And like an All-Star slugger, he went back-to-back when, in April 2024, his gloomy and grimey follow-up “Malicious Intentions” arrived. By the end of brat summer, he had made history as the only British rapper to have his first two singles chart simultaneously in the UK. Icons of the game Dave and Stormzy, plus the comedian Druski, followed with cosigns. This fall, our man on fire rolled onto the DSCVR Artists To Watch 2025 set, where he delivered his pair of hits like a pro. If this is where he’s at less than a year into the game, imagine where he’ll be at the end of next year.

Bryant Barnes delivers scorching emotions with icy ease. His debut project, ‘VANITY,’ is like an Arctic glacier: beautifully complex, ever-changing, and a little bit dangerous. Those who have explored its curves and edges are left with a profound connection to murky and plaintive tracks such as “Don’t Want A Love Song,” “Adore You,” and standout piano ballad “I’d Rather Pretend.” As with natural phenomena, Barnes’ burgeoning popularity is the result of smaller but equally important moments in time; one doesn’t earn millions of views on TikTok and YouTube in a vacuum. Born in Texas, young Bryant spent his childhood moving between states. The only constant was music, starting with classical piano lessons at the age of six. High school orchestra and a stint with the cello further honed his omnivorous skills. Inherently, he began to mix in personal taste. XXXTENTACION, Mac Miller, and Joji songs suited the somber and smooth glide of his own voice. These covers exploded on social media. Like most of Gen-Z, Barnes moonlights as a master self-marketer. Ayra Starr fulfills past promises and pushes Afrobeats forward on her spectacular sophomore album, ‘The Year I Turned 21.’ In many ways - including its age-centric title and lyrical candor - it's an extension of ‘19 & Dangerous,’ the Beninese Nigerian’s star-making 2021 debut. Nowadays, she’s a wildly successful young twenty-something. You could forgive the newly mint zillenial for reveling in designer clothes as she hangs out with the rich and the hot. Well-earned, of course. But ‘The Year I Turned 21’ is preoccupied with money in a different way. “I’m trying to figure out a way to stay the same,” she rues on “21.” She recently told Apple Music that the track, in which she ticks off the years of her life (“19 I got a big bag”), freed her from writer’s block. “Commas” is poised to be another level up. It’s deeply spiritual, restless, and ambitious. Her faith in God and allergy to “isokuso” will invariably lead to more commas. We believe that the views-counter for this performance will end up with a few commas, too.

Excuse me, you look like you could use some Ella Langley in your life. With a voice like top-shelf whiskey splashed on an ex-lover’s shirt and set ablaze, the Alabama native has been hot on the country scene in 2024. The big spark came from her straight-out-the-saloon waltz “you look like you love me.” The flirty duet with Riley Green is country music at its best: sparkling piano and slide guitars, wry lyricism, and an imperfect romance. Word spread about her ‘Excuse The Mess’ EP, and soon opening slot invites were rolling in from Jon Pardi, HARDY, Morgan Wallen and Luke Bryan. At the end of the day, however, Ella only needs Ella. “Hate to break your buckle, baby, you ain’t the only John Wayne here,” she warns on “cowboy friends.” “In the spur of the moment, some other boots could buy me a beer.” A little bit like the hair of the dog, Ella and her band cured all our nerves during her Artists To Watch shoot. “hungover” and “weren’t for the wind” came out sounding rich and fiery. Easy to knock back, with just the right amount of bite.

The first thing about Merveille that grabs you is her voice. It’s filled with pristine pathos, like a calm sea that has an entire world bubbling underneath. That’s why it’s shocking that the Paris native is only 16 years old. Raised in the 18th arrondissement and armed with an innate passion for artistic expression, she began singing at an early age. Congolese music played in the house, molding her tastes. Soon enough, bedroom recording sessions on BandLab had this Tems fan carving out her own sounds. Debut EP ‘Peace&love’ are a trio of songs that she recorded mostly on her phone. Released early last year, the project revealed a soft yet self-assured new voice in the French R&B scene. Her soundscape widens and adds a new color with each release, whether she’s sliding over distorted bass on “Citadelle,” being a voice for her neighborhood on “Ghetto,” or blending genres like French alt-pop hero Stromae on “Paqueta.” Listeners across the world are responding in a big way; all three previously mentioned tracks have more than 10 million Spotify streams. Most of her colorful and incisive music videos soar into seven digits. Merveille’s latest achievement is this summer’s ‘IDENTITÉ’ EP, her most exciting project yet and a great excuse to get her on the DSCVR stage. K-Pop fans know that Sakura, Kim Chae-won, Huh Yun-jin, Kazuha, and Hong Eun-chae are just a couple months away from their second anniversary together. They also know that the group's impact is always growing, largely because a one-two punch of charisma and craft works wonders every time. As their work becomes more popular, the ladies are often reminding journalists that their band motto is "I'm Fearless," and with each new project, they reprove the maxim. Back in 2022, "Sour Grapes" and "Blue Flame" helped them get noticed. And their 'FEARLESS' EP's title track cemented the deal. With pockets of fans around the world, last year's 'UNFORGIVEN' album made even bigger waves, and it arrived with a message. The group has said it's about "standing up to the prejudices and judgements of the world," and spreading the message "of moving forward." No one can counter that idea. The outfit's new 'EASY' EP find them at most convincing. We invited them in to share performance of "Swan Song," "Perfect Night," and the title track. Yes, it was fun.

“When I grew up, criminals were my heroes.” With an intro line that could be applied to the Henry Hill coming-of-age montage in ‘Goodfellas,’ Macklemore summarizes “HEROES.” Over an extremely boom extremely bap DJ Premier beat, the Seattle rhymer breaks down his complicated relationship with the MCs he looked up to as a kid, and the culture that allured him. Kicks from Eastbay, drinking Mad Dog, loitering at 7-Eleven, and yes, even a De Niro reference, the detailed litany of relatable touchstones goes on. It’s also yet another sly track from the dude who’s famous for hiding acerbic cultural criticisms behind frivolous references and fun beats. Macklemore has promised that his ‘BEN’ album (arriving Friday) is a moodier project than previous, in part because of his well-publicized 2020 relapse. But “HEROES” is a sign that the “Thrift Shop” rapper is gonna be looking inward from some very unique perspectives, that wry grin never far from his face.

Halsey - The Great Impersonator (Short Film) | Vevo Official Live Performances

If you found yourself on Halsey’s Instagram in October 2024, you’d have a hard time finding Halsey anywhere. Instead, you’d come face to face with Dolly Parton, Bruce Springsteen, Joni Mitchell and… oh, wait that IS Halsey! Fans have long marveled at the pop virtuoso’s world building skills (who could forget the ornate, gothic scenery of 2021’s ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power?’), but it feels like Halsey has taken the biggest creative swing of her career with ‘The Great Impersonator.’ She labels it a “confessional concept album.” As the October 25 release day approached, fans watched her inhabit a kaleidoscope of musical heroes. That was only the beginning. We decided to take the nostalgic trip one step further with these Official Live Performances, seeking to answer the questions: “What if Halsey arrived in a different time? What if she recorded in the 1970s, 80s, 90s or early 2000’s?” So we built four interconnected stages reflective of each decade - with vintage outfits and instruments to match. We captured the action on 35mm film for that timeless feel. Leaning into personal authenticity, Halsey did her own makeup. Team Vevo and Team Halsey’s long history of collaboration allowed this to be one of the series’ most ambitious shoots. Today it arrives as a special short film, complete with performances of “Panic Attack,” “Hometown,” “Ego,” and “Lonely Is The Muse.”
