Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal, is one of the best places in Europe for a city break. It offers historic sites, squares, castles, a long seaside promenade and some excellent cafes, bars and restaurants in its centre. It's also well-located for the fairy-tale castles of Sintra and several scenic beach towns. Travelling around Lisbon feels relaxed, warm and welcoming compared to many European capital cities.
