A flurry of butterflies visited our DSCVR stage in Brooklyn, NY. They all belonged to Colombian rising star Ela Taubert, who moved through her performance as flawlessly as the winged creatures fly. It’s her symbol, her favorite emoji – a sign of transformation and evolution. Belying her humble beginnings as a teenage songwriter, Ela broke onto the scene with bombast. Her first EP, ‘¿Cómo Pasó?,’ reached #12 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay chart and netted her the coveted opening slot on the Bogotá stop of KAROL G’s Mañana Será Bonito stadium tour. Ela’s connection with her fans is intimate. She’s created a refuge, a safe space where her fans can process their emotions and shed their skin without judgment. “I’m focused on being able to share from the most honest part of my heart all the stories I’ve experienced and been inspired by,” she told Remezcla earlier this year. Introducing KATSEYE | Vevo DSCVR Artists To Watch 2025

In the year of the girl group comeback, KATSEYE stands out from the pack as the global crew. There’s Daniela, Lara, and Megan from the States. There’s Swiss singer Manon repping Europe, Sophia waving the flag for the Philippines and Yoonchae from the pop group Mecca of the past decade, South Korea. It’s a novel concept, developed via a tried and true method - a talent contest. The six gals were the finalists of The Debut: The Dream Academy. Afterwords, the real work started. “We were training 10 to 12 hours a day,” recalls Lara. They also moved in together. “We became sisters,” says Manon. Months of dance training and singing sessions culminated in the aptly titled “Debut.” A swaggering bassline matches the pop confection’s main announcement: KATSEYE is the result of detailed planning, but the energy is all natural. “We ain’t flexing, babe we do what we do.” Perhaps more impressive is second single, “Touch.” Having arrived in July, it boasts more than 170 million Spotify streams and 60 million-plus views for the whirlwind video. Those are phenomenal numbers. So much so that we had to jump in on the rapidly-ascending ground floor. That fans are going to go crazy for these performances might be the easiest prediction we'll make this year. Sitting together on the DSCVR stage, this constellation of six young stars giggled in anticipation about 2025 plans. A couple even got goosebumps, a sensation that many viewers will certainly share.

Tyla - Water (Live). An exclusive performance for Vevo DSCVR, the channel for the best in new music.

There’s a new genre coming out of South Africa, and Tyla is one of its most promising young talents. “Amapiano, it’s the sound right now,” she explained to us after gliding through her DSCVR performances, where she put the emerging blend of house, R&B, and African dance genres such as Kwaito in the spotlight. In Zulu dialects, Amapiano means “the pianos,” a reference to the lounge keys usually weaved into its skipping four-to-the-floor rhythms. Tyla herself is a master of taking its glossiest elements and imbuing them with the sensuality of American R&B. “Getting Late,” her breakout debut, was all about making the most of a night’s final hours. Considering she designs her songs in the shower, it makes sense that a certain steaminess and nonchalance runs through recent bops “Been Thinking” and “Girl Next Door.” But like a rose garden, there’s thorns nestled between those Tyla’s delicate sonic petals and romantic aromas. “My first love was not my first heartbreak,” the Aaliyah and Rihanna disciple whispers in “To Last.” Ouch. Clearly, she’s learned how to pack punches from her pop-R&B heroes. “Water” is a particularly fetching track. “It’s kind of a naughty song,” she confessed, before adding, “It’s a summer song.” What else is there to say: dive in, but don’t expect to cool off.

Shenseea - Waistline. An exclusive live performance for Vevo.

Dancehall culture is as much about personality as it is about musical talent, and Shenseea has both in spades. The Jamaica native can certainly hit the notes, but she’s just as impressive leading crowds with toasts, boasts and more than a little brashness. Maxed-out confidence is right there in the name of last year’s debut: ‘ALPHA,’ an album throughout which the “Diana” singer puts her own desires first. “I’m the one you want/I’m the one you need,” she proclaims on the Tyga-assisted album opener “Target.” Two tracks later she’s going full sexual self-empowerment on “Deserve It,” a pop-leaning bop with a breathy hook a la TLC and Destiny’s Child. That features include both Caribbean staples such as Beanie Man and Sean Paul alongside hip-hop luminaries 21 Savage and Megan Thee Stallion tells you she’s aiming for full crossover cred. “Waistline” certainly does the job, and the only thing this performance is missing is a sweaty crowd dancing alongside her. Advice: Do some toe touches before heeding Shen’s commands.
