Colombian singer-songwriter Ela Taubert is destined for stardom – there’s no doubt about it. More than just a new “It Girl” in Latin pop, Ela has turned her art into a safe space for listeners to explore the stories, conflicts and raw feelings involved with the matters of the heart. In her first project, ‘¿Quién Dijo Que Era Fácil?,’ the composer hits the mark with gut-wrenching descriptions of heartbreak and the whirlwind of vulnerability of adolescence. keshi - Glimpse of Us. An exclusive live performance for Vevo.

The last time we worked with keshi was in 2020 for our DSCVR At Home series, which brought live performances to the masses during lockdown. Back then, supporting his hushed ballad “More,” we hinted that an album was in the works. Next week it finally arrives. The versatile singer/rapper/producer asserts that ‘Gabriel’ is about his “life at the moment; it’s very honest and candid.” That latter word certainly describes “GET IT,” a boldly bumpin’ and lyrically brash track that announces keshi is yet again pushing the boundaries of his craft. As he goes through his checklist - “Got my money (Check) / Lady (Check) / Rollie (Check) / Mary (Check)” - it’s easy to see this is an artist whose confidence is sky high. He brought that authority to our studio, too, reeling in the swag a bit and adding a pinch of earnestness. “ANGOSTURA” dives even deeper into his R&B bag. Then there’s “LIMBO,” which proves he’s willing to throw an acoustic guitar over his shoulder and belt falsettos. Closing things out with a cover of Joji’s heartbreaking hit “Glimpse of Us” was a cool hat tip to the current strength of Asian-American artists shaping the alt-pop space. Mr. Versatile strikes again.

Bryant Barnes delivers scorching emotions with icy ease. His debut project, ‘VANITY,’ is like an Arctic glacier: beautifully complex, ever-changing, and a little bit dangerous. Those who have explored its curves and edges are left with a profound connection to murky and plaintive tracks such as “Don’t Want A Love Song,” “Adore You,” and standout piano ballad “I’d Rather Pretend.” As with natural phenomena, Barnes’ burgeoning popularity is the result of smaller but equally important moments in time; one doesn’t earn millions of views on TikTok and YouTube in a vacuum. Born in Texas, young Bry spent his childhood moving between states. The only constant was music, starting with classical piano lessons at the age of six. High school orchestra and a stint with the cello further honed his omnivorous skills. Inherently, he began to mix in personal taste. “When I grew up, criminals were my heroes.” With an intro line that could be applied to the Henry Hill coming-of-age montage in ‘Goodfellas,’ Macklemore summarizes “HEROES.” Over an extremely boom extremely bap DJ Premier beat, the Seattle rhymer breaks down his complicated relationship with the MCs he looked up to as a kid, and the culture that allured him. Kicks from Eastbay, drinking Mad Dog, loitering at 7-Eleven, and yes, even a De Niro reference, the detailed litany of relatable touchstones goes on. It’s also yet another sly track from the dude who’s famous for hiding acerbic cultural criticisms behind frivolous references and fun beats. Macklemore has promised that his ‘BEN’ album (arriving Friday) is a moodier project than previous, in part because of his well-publicized 2020 relapse. But “HEROES” is a sign that the “Thrift Shop” rapper is gonna be looking inward from some very unique perspectives, that wry grin never far from his face.

Pozer is surfing the crest of UK rap’s new wave by blending grime, drill, and Jersey club influences into a distinct sound that feels familiar, innovative and fierce. A relatively recent foray into the music world explains the rap rookie’s fresh perspective; he’s one of numerous artists who found their calling during the pandemic, turning the languid days of that disastrous era into an opportunity to focus on passions. For Pozer, however, the motivation cut deeper than most. “I wanted to change my living situation,“ he expressed to us. So the Chief Keef acolyte turned on the burners, and cooked up “Kitchen Stove.” Over a squeaky mattress sample, Poz coolly puts self-progress atop the to-do list. “I done it with gang/And I done it alone.” The debut wasn’t a hit, it was a home run. And like an All-Star slugger, he went back-to-back when, in April 2024, his gloomy and grimey follow-up “Malicious Intentions” arrived. By the end of brat summer, he had made history as the only British rapper to have his first two singles chart simultaneously in the UK. Icons of the game Dave and Stormzy, plus the comedian Druski, followed with cosigns. This fall, our man on fire rolled onto the DSCVR Artists To Watch 2025 set, where he delivered his pair of hits like a pro. If this is where he’s at less than a year into the game, imagine where he’ll be at the end of next year.
