Let's look at how to create a custom resource for a saved game in Godot. We'll accomplish this using a script, and then we can work on saving and loading the game data. This is a great method for software development.
This week we take a look at five more inspiring games made in the Godot Engine.

The Godot Engine is a free open source 2D and 3D game engine alternative to Unity and Unreal. Godot 4 is the current engine version and is being used by game developer studios and indie game developers alike.
Your favorite game is entered into the 2025 Godot Game Awards.
The hope is that these games & projects truly inspire anyone wanting to make games, especially with the Godot Engine, by showing what other people are creating and what is possible.

Hello! This is a tutorial on how to make a isometric tilemap in Godot 4. Specifically, I show how to draw a basic tileset, set it up in Godot, create a basic isometric player controller, and finally how to auto generate collisions. Here's a link to the git repository containing the project's source code: https://github.com/DevPoodle/y....t-example-projects/t

Welcome to the first devlog for Plant Tales! Consider wishlisting on Steam if you’re interested :)
https://store.steampowered.com..../app/3693970/Plant_T
I’ve been working on this plant game for the past year in my spare time (about 3 days a week) and it’s about time I show you all what I’ve been up to! This video covers up to month 7, and I’ll be saving the rest for future devlogs. Would really appreciate any feedback and thoughts about the game so far :D
As for the release date, I don’t want to make any false promises, so I don’t have a release date in mind yet. But hopefully it doesn’t take tooooo long
Also apologies if the video feels like it jumps around the place, I may have crammed in too much. In reality when developing, I constantly jump back and forth between features. So I did try to reshuffle the timeline so the video made more sense.
I also want to mention how amazing my experience with Godot has been! As you may know, I switched to Godot from Unity after the Unity pricing controversy. I honestly feel like I’ve been able to accomplish more in Godot over the past year than I have in Unity over the last 5 years. It’s probably also due to gaining more experience over time in general - but I'm super happy with the progress I've been able to make with Godot!
Some of you might also be curious what happened to my other game. It's going on pause while I complete this one, since this one has a much clearer scope and gameplay loop (I have since learnt the importance of both these things haha). Will probably return to it at some point though

Quick guide on accessing nodes
Yes, Godot is a game engine, but a fairly capable UI framework for making non-game software as well! A frequently cited fact is that the engine's editor itself is written in Godot. So in this talk, I want to shine some more light on this, and share what I have learned while using Godot to make my (free and open source) to-do list app Habituary. I'll cover the fundamentals of working with Control nodes (including topics like responsive UI and theming), but also point out certain showstoppers and annoyances, and present my custom-made solutions to some of those.

Quick tutorial on how to use "Get Tree" in Godot 4!!!
A question as old as time, which game engine should I use, Unity or Godot? This is certainly an emotionally charged topic and one we are going to attempt as unbiased as possible to hopefully help you decide which of these game engines is right for you. We look at 6 Pros and 3 Cons of choosing the Unity or Godot game engines. We only focus on Unity and Godot in this video, if you would prefer a similar treatment for other game engines such as Unreal, GameMaker, Defold or otherwise, let me know in the comments.

Godot has two major languages it supports for scripting: GDScript and C#. But what if you wanted to write your Godot scripts in a different language? With the new GDExtension system in Godot 4+, we now have the ability add other languages. This talk will take you through the process of binding a language to Godot, using examples from Godot Dart. It will take you through some of the inner workings of GDExtensions, the pitfalls of using GDExtension to add a Script Language, and various ways for new languages to interact with core Godot features, addons, and other extensions.

Discover how to create fluid, procedural tentacle animations in Godot 4 using Skeleton2D and inverse kinematics, no math skills required! In this quick tip, I'll show you my simple approach to creating Lovecraftian tentacle movements that follow arcs naturally without frame-by-frame animation.
I'll demonstrate how combining Skeleton2D with the new FABRIK (Forward And Backward Reaching Inverse Kinematics) modifier creates smooth, organic movement that responds to targets dynamically. Perfect for creature animations, tentacles, tails, or any appendage that needs natural, flowing motion.
By the end of this video, you'll understand how to:
- Set up a Skeleton2D hierarchy for procedural animation
- Implement inverse kinematics using the FABRIK modifier
- Create smooth arc movements using Path2D and PathFollow2D
- Combine these techniques for gameplay mechanics like grabbing the player
No complicated math or advanced animation knowledge needed, just Godot's built-in tools!
